1) As has been our tradition, I went to the store to pick up a bag of Chili Cheese Fritos prior to recording this week's show. I ended up with the last bag in the store. Good sign? I think so.2) The Powder Puff Girl and I were hanging out and having a few M&M’s. She reached in blindly and pulled out a blue and orange pair. Cool, right? Then I went in and did the same thing. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
3) This article from the Wall Street Journal
• 18 of the last 22 Super Bowl champions allowed fewer regular-season points than their opponent. Advantage: Bears (255 points allowed vs. the Colts 360)
• No team has allowed more than 340 points in the regular season and gone on to win the Super Bowl. Advantage: Bears (Colts allowed 360)
• The team with the better points-scored-to-points-allowed ratio, known as P-wins, has won 81.8% of Super Bowls since SB XIX. Advantage: Bears (12.36 P-wins vs. the Colts 9.59)
So, not only does Allen think the Bears have a chance, but according to these numbers they should be favored.
4) Only one ESPN analyst has chosen the Bears to win the Super Bowl. The last time they did that we beat New Orleans.
5) Rex has been under siege by the media for the past two weeks. So far this season, he’s always played best when the pressure was the highest. He’s only screwed up when the scrutiny shifts off of him onto another player.
6) My Olin Kreutz jersey stopped a bullet last night while I was out at the bars.
Ok, so maybe that last one isn’t true, but the rest are and that’s why I’m confident that the Bears can beat the Colts this Sunday.
